Bushes can be a problem! Homeowner’s Tip
Summer is the time to check the bushes around your house. You might not be aware, but shrubs and other plants growing so close to your house that they rub against the siding is detrimental to the health of your house. The growth up against the house rubs the siding and holds moisture up against your siding. Home inspectors tell me that it is much better if all bushes and plants are cut back from the siding.
I know that vines growing up the house look lovely, especially on the brick homes but many of these do send out attachment roots that work their way into the siding of your home and cause various types of damage.
Check for tree limbs that may overhang your roof or gutters. Even a light breeze moving limbs around could damage your shingles.
