Charlotte Utilities' awarded four 2002 Gold Awards and one Silver Award by the Association of Metropolitan Sewerage Agencies (AMSA) in recognition of compliance with wastewater treatment quality. Irwin Creek, McDowell Creek, McAlpine Creek and Sugar Creek Wastewater Treatment Plants earned Gold Awards. Mallard Creek Water Reclamation Facility earned a Silver Award.
City of Charlotte Business Support Services/ Procurement has received the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award from the National Purchasing Institute. This prestigious award recognizes the high professional standareds, innovation, productivity and leadership attributes of the procurement organization.
The City Manager's Office, Corporate Communications, received the SAVVY Award, the highest achievement award, for the 2003 State of the City Proformance Report to its Citizens. The award given by the City/ County Communications and Marketing Association, an organization of communicators from through the United States, was selected because of its "honesty" in reporting.
